It can provide seniors a 100% exemption for taxes from the Gwinnett County Board of Education. For this discount, you must be at least 65 by January 1 of the year you apply. The exemption is also available to those who are 100% permanently disabled. You have to live in the Gwinnett County School District. The county also applies an income limit for eligibility.
2. Regular School Tax Exemption
The regular school tax exemption is another way to reduce property taxes. You could be eligible if you’re at least 62 by January 1 of the year you apply. This exemption also comes with income limitations.
3. $20,000 Senior Exemption
With this exemption, you have an alternative to the school tax exemptions. It’s good for seniors living in Buford who aren’t part of the Gwinnett County School District. You must be 65 by January 1 of the year you apply, and there’s an income limit.
